Art on the Pier, every Sunday. Chattanooga Pier. 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. “Art on the Pier” artists will display and sell their works with some artists sketching live portraits. Solo musicians (non-amplified) will provide music throughout the afternoon at the event.

April 27 – May 5
Red Clay Theatre Company will conclude its second season with the world premiere of “The Yip,” a dark, absurdist comedy. Performances will be on April 27, 28, May 3, 4 and 5 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. 479-5428, http://www.redclaytheatre.com

Hansel and Gretel at Chattanooga Theatre Center. Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. $7.

May 4
Armed Forces Day Parade, 10:30 a.m. Downtown Chattanooga, Market St. and MLK. Wear red, white and blue and join in the festivities, as Hamilton County and the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council (CAVC) honor military personnel at the 58th annual Armed Forces Day parade. Participants will include units from military services, area veterans groups, high school bands and JROTC units, patriotic organizations and others.

May 4
Christopher Kennedy Lawford, best-selling author and acclaimed actor, will speak at a fundraising dinner for The Aim Center. The Chattanoogan.
Paul M. Starnes will be honored as recipient of the 2007 AIM Life Achievement Award in Mental Health.

Orchard Knob Middle School carnival. 10 a.m. to 5 p,m. Music, food, games, rides and a flea market. 500 N. Highland Park Ave. at Third Street.

Family Fun Day will be held at the Speech and Hearing Center on Holtzclaw Avenue, 12-3 p.m. Free. Lunch and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream will be provided. There will also be live music, pottery painting, moon jump, sea of balls, petting zoo, face painting, balloon artistry, hearing screenings, and a silent auction to benefit the preschool for hearing impaired children.

The first annual HubFest, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Heritage Park in East Brainerd. Dedication of the sculpture, Hub, by artist Skip Van Houten. Activities scheduled for the day include: music by local area musicians; children’s art activities; refreshments courtesy of Coca-Cola; and local historian Becky Eaves will provide the history of Heritage Park & East Brainerd.

Senter School hosts the Senter Relays, one of the few track meets in town for 3rd-8th grade, at the GPS track facility. Events include 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 600m, 800m, 1200m, 1600m, shot, discus, baseball and softball throw, running and standing long jump. Call Senter School at 622-3398 for more information.

Children’s Mental Health Week Celebration at Coolidge Park, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Family Resource Fair. Free. Mayfield’s ice cream will be provided, there will also be live music, moon jump, face painting, kite making, as well as other activities.
