The first annual READFEST, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the First Tennessee Pavilion. The event, sponsored by Read 20, features the reading of eight books by guest readers every half hour. Free.

Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Guild Gala, "Carnevale di Venezia," 6 p.m., Chattanooga Convention Center. It will feature Circus Juventas, an elite group of high school and college performers who perform aerial and floor acts in Cirque de Soliel style. Ten of Chattanooga’s premier kitchens will be featured in the second annual “Tour du Jour,’’
a fundraiser for the Junior League of Chattanooga. One location will offer a full home tour sponsored by Pratt and Associates. Each site will offer special events, such as professional cooking demonstrations by Sushi Nabe, Dream Dinners, and many others. Attendees will also receive a tour guidebook outlining each kitchen’s design and material details. Homes with the featured kitchens on the self-guided tour are located in Downtown, North Chattanooga, Signal Mountain and East Brainerd. Advance purchased tickets are $15 a person and will be on sale in March at www.jlchatt.org or by calling the Junior League office at 267-5053. They will also be available the day of the tour at the Junior League Headquarters, 622 East Fourth St., for $20 with parking available at McKenzie Arena and at University Towers. Maps will be given with the purchase of tickets.

Cruise-In for Kids, a car show to benefit Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charities, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. At Chattanooga State and will feature antique and vintage cars, trucks, customs, street rods, street machines and motorcycles. An entry fee is not required by a $10 donation is appreciated.
April 15
Ham and Chicken Dinner will be served at Hixson Middle School Cafeteria on Sunday, April 15 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The cost will be $6 for adults, and $3 for children. Take out plates will be available.
Proceeds go to support Hixson Kiwanis Clubs community projects and a scholarship of $1500 for a HHS graduating senior. The dinners have been held two times per year for over 50 years and are a community "reunion."

Car Check-Ups sponsored by Southern Adventist University will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the Samaritan Center in Ooltewah.
